Mondays aren't so bad any more.
I can't wait until tonight - 24 and Heroes. Woo-hoo!
Friday Poll 1_26_07 Grocery Store
This is sort of a fill in the blank question. No matter how many times I go to the grocery store, it seems like I am always out of

Friday Poll 1_19_07 Parent-Teacher Conferences
What did your teachers used to say about you during parent-teacher conferences?
I know I'm paranoid...
But, my paranoia is not helped by the mail we received yesterday from the Walton County Local Emergency Planning Committee. It is basically a brochure that outlines what to do if we were hit by a pandemic flu. It talks about how it can make more than 15 percent of the population sick (10 percent of that 15 severely ill).
Anyway, it warns that hospitals might not be able to handle this sort of volume, so it goes through ways to prevent getting sick, what kind of emergency supplies (food, water, medicine, etc.) to keep on hand, just in case you have to be at home for 2 to 4 weeks. It also talks about other supplies you might need in case the flu is so bad that the grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, etc. might not be operating or if the electricity, water, or natural gas are out.
Then, it goes through basics on how to take care of a very sick person. Anyway, I hope this is just for our information and they don't know something we don't know. It scared me.
It is so irritating that...
I have to go back to the eye doctor for another prescription for contacts because I went in 4 days after my last one had expired. Blah.
Some random thoughts that are going through my head on this fine Tuesday evening...
1. Why can't I stop writing 06 on all of my checks when it is 2007?
2. Teething really sucks (or bites, if you will). I think Owen is getting that fourth tooth tonight.
3. When they say, "People's Choice Awards" I wonder what "people" they're asking and remind me not to hang out with these "people" because they tend to make poor decisions.
4. Even though I HATE to pull for the gators, it was kind of nice seeing them beat up on Ohio State (sorry, Shanna). It is just nice to see the SEC finally gain a shread of respect from the sports media. And it is nice to know that we only lost to the number one team in the nation by seven points.
5. We FINALLY saw Cars
and it is a very cute movie. The animation is really well done.
That's all for now.
To Owen... (10 months old)
What a month it has been! You are crawling now, and pulling up, and clapping, and this morning you even waved at your daddy. It seems like something new is happening every day. Your babbling seems to be getting more and more like some little language. You have said bye-bye a couple of times and you are still saying mama and dada. Often, you say something that sounds like "hi dada" which is very cute.
You gave us quite the scare this month when you got sick. We had been shopping all day and you were just a perfect little angel. When we got home, I sat you down on the floor in the living room while I was getting the bags out of the car. Your daddy was watching you and I heard him say, "Liz, Owen's throwing up... a lot." I came in and you had what looked like normal spit up all over you. As I started changing you, you started throwing up more and more.
I called the doctor and they just said to keep an eye on you and make sure that you stayed hydrated. After throwing up at least a dozen more times and it turning a dark brown color, we decided to go to the hospital. In a matter of about 2 hours or so, you went from laughing, playing and seeming perfectly fine, to a limp, lethargic, very sick baby. It turned out that it was just a stomach virus, but since you have the kidney reflux issues, they had to catheterize you anyway to make sure it wasn't kidney related. Of course, by that time you were completely dehydrated, so they had to do it twice. And even though you were sick, the nurses seemed surprised that you were so strong. It was a scary week or so.
Your teeth have been giving you fits for a couple of weeks now. I could tell that the top two teeth were on their way because your gums were so swollen. You were also drooling like crazy and biting on things a lot. I was convinced that they were about to pop through back around Christmas, but the top right one just appeared yesterday. So, you have three teeth now.
You have enjoyed trying some new foods this month. You are getting a little better at chewing and you love to feed yourself. I even got you to eat avocado this morning. We have tried that twice before and you hated it, but this morning you ate it right up.
You are enjoying your baths a lot more now. You have tried to put your face in the water a couple of times and you are quite surprised by the result. And you love your bath toys.
Ever since you started crawling, you don't like to be still as much. It is harder to strap you into your car seat and changing your diaper and your clothes are nearly impossible. It is all I can do to get a new diaper on before you turn over and crawl as fast as you can with your little bare bottom bouncing away from me.
You love Holly and her toys. I think she loves you too although she can be a little bit annoying around you. She always brings you her toys so we will throw them away and she can fetch them. Lately we have been hiding them from her when she brings them near you. Of course, now that you are so mobile, even if you see a toy across the room, you just take off as fast as you can towards it.
It has been really cute to watch you clap. You clap for the funniest things. One of the cutest things is when you clap while you are nursing or when you've finished nursing. I think that is so funny. You also sometimes clap while you are eating or playing. The other day in Gymboree you started clapping when the teacher was clapping. That was very cute.
My heart swells every time I hear you laughing and playing with your daddy. The two of you are so sweet together. He likes to laugh at your funny hair.
You are just as cute as a button and I love you more than ever.
Netflix Movies from 2006
Just like last year, we sent a lot of these movies back without finishing them (many without even starting them). And we recommend hardly any of them. I'd say my favorite from this list was Crash (by far!).

Friday Poll 1_5_07 Weather
Would you rather have a cold day in the summer or a warm day in the winter?
Congratulations, Shanna and Martin!
They're engaged. She told me yesterday and said she was working on getting a mass email together to tell people, so she said it would be fine if I helped spill the beans. Anyway, I'm so happy for them. Since they've been together, I have never seen Shanna so happy and Martin seems like a really good guy. They will probably tie the knot in the fall of 2008.
