  Pain in my neel.
You know that little part of your foot that sticks out below your pinkie toe on the outside of your foot? What is that called? About a year ago I was shopping with Rebecca and Gillam and I tried on these shoes that were too lowcut. I have wide feet and it made that part of my foot look really dumb and pronounced. I said, "I can't wear these shoes because they show my neel." I don't know why I said that. I just sort of made up the word on the spur of the moment. Becca and Gillam just died laughing.

I don't know how you'd spell neel. Is it kneel, like the verb? Or Neal or Neil like the names? I'm going with "neel" since I don't think that is already the spelling of any word. Okay, I just googled it and neel is a name too, but I haven't heard it before, so neel it is.

Anyway, I hate feet. They gross me out. But I don't like shoes that much and since it has been warm (up until yesterday), I have been going barefoot outside around the house. Anyway, now my feet are really gross. And I have some kind of wound on my neel. It hurts. It may not seem very important I know, but it is so I'm bothering telling you so. (Sorry, too much Dr. Suess lately)

  D@#$ Squirrels
Ahhh... the joys of homeownership. It turns out that we need to get the roof sealed off to evict our tiny tenets living in the attic. We also have to get an electrician to fix the wire they chewed through in a number of places. Hooray!

  Addiction
It is amazing to watch the hypnotic effect that Blue's Clues has over Owen. We accidentally had it on one night and ever since then he is completely obsessed. You ask him if he wants to watch a show and he says, "bwuu" or "bwuu clue" most of the time. Although sometimes he also says, "dickey" (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) or "guggles" (The Wiggles).

So, Austin and I took a million pictures of Owen's birthday party, so I'll break them up into 3 parts over the next few days. Some of these I took. Some of them Austin took. Anyway, here they are...

  Friday Poll 3_7_08 Shared Birthdays
Do you share a birthday with anyone else you know? (I know this answer will be an easy one for Stephanie and Nicole!)

To Owen... (2 years old) HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OWEN!
You are two! Happy Birthday, little guy!

I can't believe how fast you have been learning words and concepts in the last couple of months. You have been working on your alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors a lot lately. Some of the newest things you are saying are: A, B, C, D, E, H, K, O, P, R, S, T, X, Y (some of these you get right more often than others - same with the numbers), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, red, purple, blue, yellow, black, square, triangle, I get it, elephant, Oscar, Big Bird, Bert, Mickey (although it sounds like "Dickie"), Minnie, Pete, feet, socks, shoes, buttons, your welcome, pizza, pepperoni, eggs, cups, tree, good job, paper, and crayons (cray).

You can point out your eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, nose, head, hair, chin, cheeks, hands, fingers, belly button, feet, and toes, although you won't always do it on cue.

You love riding around in your cars. You can zoom around so fast now! And you are getting to where you can pedal a big wheel now. Sometimes you try to ride in cars that are too small to ride in.

Sometimes you just get in anything with wheels.

Your favorite shows to watch are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Wiggles, Backyardigans, Oswald, Thomas the Tank Engine, Little Einsteins, and of course, Sesame Street. Your favorite books are ANYTHING by Sandra Boynton, Llama, Llama Red Pajama, Bear Snores On, Goodnight Moon, Cow Moo Me, The Little Engine That Could, and any of the picture books that have real photographs in them (My First Word Book, My First ABC Book, etc.). You also really like this Brainy Baby Shapes and Colors book (although I get a little irritated with that one).

Your favorite foods (at the moment) are chicken (you especially love the chicken from the chicken soup at the Mexican restaurant - you like the rice and broth a lot too), broccoli (you like the microwavable Green Giant individual broccoli with cheese sauce the best), almost all fruits - especially strawberries, grapes, bananas and oranges, yogurt, peanut butter (but not really peanut butter sandwiches - you like it spread on apples mostly), plain cheeseburgers (no buns), hot dogs (turkey dogs), eggs, pizza, macaroni and cheese, steak, green beans, corn, ice cream and cookies. Sometimes you gobble these foods, but every once in a while you act like they taste like poison.

Sometimes things mix you up a bit. You are finally saying choo-choo some of the time when I show you trains, but you still sometimes call them cars. You are always picking up rocks outside and calling them cookies and trying to bite them. You grabbed a childproof bottle of liquid Motrin from the counter the other night and kept running around with it saying, "bubbles."

One of the funniest things you do is when you look at people out of the corner of your eyes. You get this mischievous little look on your face and turn your head, but continue to look as far out of the corner of your eye as you can. It is so cute.

You are like a little sponge and it is so cool to watch you learn and develop. You amaze us more and more each day. I hope you have a happy birthday!

Love, Mama
